Public Safety
Roloff Construction is dedicated to making every job site as safe as possible for our employees and for the public. When we need to communicate specific project information to you, we will deliver a bright orange flyer to your home or business. Please review the information thoroughly and contact us if you have any questions. We will do all that we can to eliminate risk and ask that the public read and follow the safety guidelines below. Working together, we can all be safe!
Attention Parents! Construction project sites are an “attractive nuisance” to children. They will be curious and fascinated by the big equipment, dirt piles, pipe and many other things that must remain on a site throughout the duration of a project. If there is a construction project in your neighborhood it is EXTREMELY important that you follow these guidelines and go over them with your children.
In many cases, the project site may be right in front of, behind, or adjacent to your home or business and you may be very near the work being performed. Please follow these safety tips.
· When there is construction activity in your neighborhood, the most important thing for you to remember is that you must stay out of the project site. Do not proceed beyond barricades, cones, caution tape, safety fencing or other barriers, unless you have pre-authorized access from a Roloff Construction Project Superintendent.
· Equipment
o Our construction projects require the use of very heavy equipment which will remain on the project site for the duration of the project. For your safety:
§ Never approach a piece of equipment. Equipment can swing, back up or otherwise move in a manner you may not anticipate and the operator may not be aware of your presence.
· Trenches/Confined Spaces
o Our construction projects require us to excavate deep trenches and open manholes. Never approach an open trench or manhole in attempt to look down/in or in attempt to enter the excavation or manhole.
· Truck Safety
o When we are working in your area, please be aware that there will be additional truck/construction equipment traffic. Please use extra caution when driving, biking or walking near a construction zone. It is very important to remind young children who are walking or riding bikes to use extra caution.
o If you are following a large truck, do not follow too closely and do not pull up too close to the back of a truck when it is stopped. If you can’t see the truck’s side mirrors, that means the truck driver cannot see you! Large trucks often have to back up and it is important that they be able to use their mirrors to see what is behind them. Please stay back so you remain visible.
